✹ Developing a new sustainable business model for collaborative working under Falay Collective
✦ Role: Community Leader, Designer, Researcher
✦ Year: 2022 - 2025

From January 2022 to November 2025, I was a core member of the Falay Transition Design collective, a mission-oriented group of transition designers, creative practitioners, systems thinkers, sustainability experts and researchers.
Our goal was to flip the consultancy model: to imagine the radical shifts the world needs in order to adopt more sustainable and regenerative ways of working, and then find different funding channels to bring them to life.
We experimented with what a non-hierarchical, decentralised way of working could look like. Each of us kept the independence that entrepreneurship allows, while having a close group of co-workers for support and collaboration.
The collective has since dissolved, and its members have gone on to start new ventures, including Futures Folk, which I co-founded.

We are using creative practices for sustainability transformations in three key ways:
Transition Design Consulting:
We guide communities towards more regenerative ways of working. We use systems and futures thinking and design methodologies to build shared visions of desirable futures, and then concretely build pathways and interventions towards these futures.Sustainability transitions require change at societal and organisational levels, but also at the insular, individual level.
Capacity building:
We are developing tools, trainings and workshops to share the role of creative practices (including imagination work, transition design. futures thinking and more) in accelerating sustainability transformationsSystems change initiatives:
In parallel to our client work, we are also conducting a number of exploratory research and artistic projects which blend the topics of creative practice, futures thinking and sustainability transformations.Currently we are exploring work around collective imagination of forests in Finland, using creative practice to support futures democratisation, and the role of the Arts more generally in addressing the polycrisis.
